Hi, I'm Collin
I started my technical journey in grade 9, I was sitting in chapel when I thought to myself: "Those drums sound terrible, I want to change that". So, I signed up for the tech team. Little did I know that I would find my love for all things production.
For the next 4 years, I learned from my good friend, James Doerksen, who trained me as a Sound engineer which grew me many connections. Before I knew it, I was building stages and hanging PA systems for Blue Bomber Tailgate parties with a local Corporate AV company. As I looked to pursue this work as a career, I moved out to Brandon, Manitoba and studied in the Interactive Media Arts program at Assiniboine Community College where I learned to refine my craft. While in Brandon, I worked at a local television station learning about television production as I started directing and switching local sports. I got the bite and wanted to go full-time in live production. In September of 2022, I made the scary choice to go full-time freelance, saying yes to becoming a utility for every Winnipeg Jets home game of the season, with Dome Productions. I look forward to moving into the production truck one day, as my dream is to become a Technical Director. As I wait for that opportunity, I am continuing to learn new technologies and skills with other work in the city as a Director/Technical Director.
My journey so far has taught me if there is one thing that I love doing, it is all things production. I am always looking at how to put out the best content possible, fix new problems, and continue to learn new skills while integrating new types of technology.
My goal in everything I do is to ensure that the finished product is excellent.
